Apple Bars: A Delightful Autumn Treat

Ingredients
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and finely diced
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preparation

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dishand set it aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Wet Ingredients
In a medium mixing bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed to cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Continue beating until well combined and fluffy.
Step 3: Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, sift together:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Step 4: Mix the Batter
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Step 5: Bake
