Boiling the water:
Boil the water in a pot. After boiling, add the prepared ginger. Simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow the ginger to release its properties into the water.
Cooling:
Set the drink aside to cool. If you wish, you can strain the water to remove the ginger bits.
Additions:
Once it has cooled, add lemon juice and honey if you prefer a slightly sweet taste.
Serving:
Pour the drink into a glass or jug and serve it cold or warm, depending on your taste.
Serving and Storage Tips:
It is best to drink ginger water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to make the most of its metabolism-boosting properties.
You can also sip it throughout the day as a replacement for regular water.
Store the drink in an airtight container in the fridge and consume within 2-3 days to maintain its freshness and flavor.
Variations:
Mint version:
Add a few fresh mint leaves to the drink for a refreshing flavor.
Cucumber version:
Slice a cucumber and add it to ginger water to enhance its flavor and hydrate your body.
Spicy version:
Add a pinch of cinnamon or turmeric while cooking to boost the anti-inflammatory properties of the drink.
