Instructions
1. Prepare the Cake
Bake the angel food cake as directed on the package (or use a store-bought cake). Let cool completely.
2. Make the Pudding
Whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with milk in a medium bowl until thickened.
3. Prepare the Cream Filling
In a separate bowl, beat sour cream, softened cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth.
Gently fold the pudding mixture into this cream mixture.
4. Assemble the Layers
Cut the cooled cake into small cubes.
In a large serving dish or trifle bowl:
Layer half the cake cubes
Spread half the cream mixture
Add half the cherry pie filling
Repeat with the remaining cake, cream, and cherry filling.
5. Finish & Chill
Spread whipped topping over the top layer.
Garnish with almond slices if desired.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
