Incredibly Delicious Garlic Flatbread in 10 Minutes

Ingredients

(Makes 6–8 servings)

For the Dough:
500 g wheat flour (all-purpose or bread flour )

1 teaspoon salt
1 cube of yeast (42 g or 2 Ÿ teaspoons active dry yeast )
300 ml warm water (about 110°F/43°C )
2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Garlic Topping:
2 garlic cloves , minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 pinch of black pepper

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour , salt , and yeast . Mix well.

Gradually add the warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough begins to form.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 3–5 minutes , or until smooth and elastic.
Tip : If the dough feels sticky, sprinkle in a little more flour as you knead.

Step 2: Divide and Shape
Divide the dough into 6–8 equal portions , depending on how large you want your flatbreads.
Roll each portion into a ball, then flatten it into an oval or round shape using a rolling pin. Aim for a thickness of about Ÿ inch (6 mm) .

Step 3: Cook the Flatbread
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium-high heat .

Place one flatbread in the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes , or until bubbles form and the bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for another 1–2 minutes .
Tip : Avoid pressing down on the flatbread while cooking to keep it light and airy.

Repeat with the remaining dough, stacking the cooked flatbreads on a plate and covering them with a clean kitchen towel to keep them warm.

Step 4: Make the Garlic Topping
In a small bowl, mix together the minced garlic , 2 tablespoons olive oil , dried thyme , dried oregano , and pinch of black pepper .

Step 5: Finish the Flatbread
Brush the garlic mixture generously over the warm flatbreads.
Optional : Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.

Step 6: Serve
Serve the flatbreads warm as a side dish, appetizer, or accompaniment to dips like hummus, tzatziki, or marinara sauce.

Tips for Success
Use Fresh Herbs : Substitute dried thyme and oregano with fresh herbs for a brighter flavor.
Add Cheese : Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or feta cheese over the flatbreads before brushing with garlic oil for a cheesy twist.
Storage : Store leftover flatbreads in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days . Reheat in a skillet or microwave to restore softness.
Freeze for Later : Freeze cooled flatbreads in a freezer-safe bag for up to 1 month . Reheat directly from frozen in a skillet or oven.
Experiment with Spices : Add smoked paprika, chili flakes, or za’atar for a unique flavor profile.
