Place One Balloon in the Shower Drain, and You’ll Be Amazed at What Happens

Take a balloon and cut off both ends — where you’d blow air and the rounded tip.

Slip the balloon over the drain cover. The flexible latex creates a snug fit around the base.

Reinsert the cover with the balloon into the drain.

The cut opening still allows water to pass through, but it creates a tight, narrow barrier that makes it extremely difficult for cockroaches to crawl through. Think of it as a one-way valve: water flows, but pests don’t.

Not only does this trick block cockroaches, it can also help reduce unwanted odors that sometimes waft up from the pipes.

More Tips to Keep Cockroaches Out of Your Bathroom
While the balloon trick is fantastic, it works best as part of a broader pest prevention routine. Here are some additional tips:

Keep the bathroom clean and dry. Wipe down wet surfaces and remove excess moisture after showers.
