sibly with the arrival of adolescence and friends at school, Sader most likely felt ashamed of his father. However, it was always the opposite, and his greatest pride was knowing that he had an exemplary father who always waited for him at home with open arms.
In fact, Sader said that throughout his life his father raised him like any other “normal” child and always tried to give him the best.
Jad worked in a wheat mill, and saved his salary for his son’s future, as his greatest aspiration was to see him become a great doctor and professional.
That’s how he managed to pay for Sader’s university education so he could become a dentist despite the adversities.
The pride of Jad, his father, is undoubtedly the best reward Sader has received beyond his professional title, when his father tells all his friends, “My son is a doctor!”
“It’s like he’s saying, ‘I have Down syndrome, but I’ve raised my son and done everything I could to help him become a doctor.’ I’m very proud of him.”
But the pride is not only Jad’s, as Sader also shares the same pride for his father, as he says he feels a deep love and total admiration for him.
“If I could choose a father, I have no doubt whatsoever that I would choose him.”
